Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for the purpose of normalizing those tissues. It consists of techniques that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, and/or causing movement of the body.
Medical massage specifically is performed with the intent of improving conditions or pathologies that have been diagnosed by a physician; a wide variety of modalities or procedures are utilized to focus the treatment based on the diagnosed condition.
